I have been working with windows forever, and I always had to accept what is there, because there was simply nothing to do about it. Few years ago, the Linux, was quite a hassle to install, not to mention to use as normal user. Then comes the question, who doesn't like free stuff anyway? everybody is talking about the Linux, and how easy, and customizable it is, so I thought, why not, lets try it out, I asked lots of friends about which distro should I start with, and most of the recommendations where in favor of the Fedora, so I went for the Fedora, I started from Fedora Core 5, until now, Fedora 12, it has all the software you will ever need, office tools (word processing, spreadsheet, presentation), audio and video playback, Internet and e-mail, instant messaging ... it has it all, and even if there is something missing, no problem, it has a nice software called Wine, it enables Linux to run almost any windows based software, and best of all, it is not an emulator! I also tried out the Ubentu, and the Suse, the Ubento is very nice, and even more user friendly in some parts, but still the Fedora is my favorite, and also there are lots cool live CD Linux you can try out, it boots from the CD, doesn't do anything to your hard drive, so it might be a nice way to get a taste of Linux. If you haven't yet tried the Linux, you can't imagine what you're missing, so give it a try, maybe you have an old computer lying around somewhere, or even easier, you can go for a virtual machine software like VirtualBox, which is also an open source software. |
